Why I Started this Blog

About three or four years ago, I started my investing journey primarily with Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRIPs). After I enrolled in a few DRIPs, I started helping other investors enroll. Most of the people I helped were new to DRIPs and Do It Yourself (DIY) investing, so I ended up answering a lot of different questions. I learned a lot during this process which helped develop my investing knowledge and on top of that, I really enjoyed it. Since then, starting a blog had been in the back of my mind for some time. So why did I start this blog? Well, there are four main reasons:

  1. I really like helping beginner investors, so I’m hoping my readers find this site useful and I can continue this tradition. It’s a great feeling to help someone out, and know that they really appreciate it.
  2. When you are bombarded with questions you learn a lot. This blog is another way to expand my investing knowledge. By getting involved in the blogging community I hope to develop my investing skills further.
  3. I’m hoping that this blog will help keep me honest. By sharing my various retirement and investment goals with the investing community, I’m hoping that it’ll help me meet my goals.
  4. The last reason is curiosity. I’m a professional accountant, but I’m more interested in finance and investing. I read a lot of finance and dividend blogs, and the authors usually point out that their blog has led to some new experience they weren’t expecting. I’m curious and excited to see where this blog takes me.
